Description

Have you ever wondered why old musicals can sound sooo different from modern musicals? Do you struggle to find an audition song that "fits" best with the musical you're looking to audition for? This is the class for you!! Throughout this session, we will explore the full history of music theatre, from the very beginning all the way up to this year and beyond! We'll learn about artists and performers that shaped and steered the industry into each new era. In addition, students will prepare and perform songs from the early days of music theatre (like Oklahoma; The Music Man; or Hello, Dolly), the breakthrough era (like Les Mis; Footloose; or Newsies), and the current era (like Hamilton; Frozen; or Encanto). There are so many shows to learn about and explore-literally all of them-so join us on this journey from the distant past into the very future of this wonderful art form!! See you in class!!
