Description

Directors. It’s their instructions we follow, their sanity we question during the rehearsal process, and their vision we see when we watch a performance. But have you ever wondered what a director ACTUALLY does? Or thought, “I could do that.” The aim of this class is to impart essential and foundational directing basics, giving students an insight not only into what it takes to be a director but how they can use that knowledge to become better actors as well. Throughout this class students will read and analyze scripts, plan out their stage and blocking, and act as the director of an assigned scene as well as perform as actors in their classmates scenes for a final showcase performance.
Spoiler Alert: In true directing style, there will be a good amount of paperwork, organization, and behind the scenes work involved in this class so be prepared for both weekly acting and directing homework.
