Join us for Magic Tree House: The Knight at Dawn, this winter's CYT Lite production!!

Magic Tree House: The Knight at Dawn KIDS is an adaptation of the second of Mary Pope Osborne's award-winning fantasy adventure books from the Magic Tree House book series, which has sold more than 100 million copies and is available in more than 100 countries around the world.  This time around, Jack and Annie’s tree house takes them to an age of knights in shining armor, where the two discover the power of hope and the true meaning of gallantry.

The two siblings, Jack and Annie, return to visit the magic tree house.  As they read a book about knights and the middle ages, Annie is intrigued by the Black Knight and the mysterious quest one must successfully complete before becoming a knight.  When she wishes to visit the castle in the book, the siblings are whisked away to medieval times.  They set off to learn more about the Black Knight and his quest, experiencing a grand medieval feast, escaping through secret tunnels and dancing with enchanted suits of armor, all in an effort to find their way back home.

Each class night will be a rehearsal, and auditions to determine roles will happen during the evening of the first class--no need to prep anything, and everyone registered for the class will be in the show!
This will be a wonderful experience for those who are looking to grow as a performer, whether you are brand new to theater or have done many shows before! Come be a part of the fun as you shine on the stage singing, dancing, and acting!

This show will have a extra rehearsals on January 30th and February 6th from 6:00-8:00pm, and then tech week is February 11th-13th, from 5:00-8:00pm. There will be 4 performances total, on February 14th-16th. All classes/rehearsals, tech week, and shows will be at the CYT Studio, 5024 Southpoint Parkway.

**Please note that this class will NOT have a final showcase. Instead, the 9th week will be an additional, regular rehearsal night of class.**

Austin Fitzhugh

I am a proud CYT Fredericksburg student Alumni from 2006-2009. I got my B.A. double major in Drama and Music from the University of Virginia, then came back to stage manage, direct, and teach for CYT. In 2012, I went to Regent University to get my M.F.A. in Acting (directing concentration), then worked professionally as an actor for stage, film and TV in Virginia and the southeast. I got married, came back to Fredericksburg, and worked as an advisor and theater adjunct instructor at Germanna Community College while working on a second M.F.A. in Writing for Stage and Screen from the New Hampshire Institute of Art. I currently work as a Software Engineer at Dahlgren NSWC. Come learn with me!

Hailey Broyles

Hi, I’m Hailey and I am so excited to be returning to CYT as a teacher. I am a VCU graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and currently I am a music teacher in Spotsylvania County. I was a “CYT Kid” when I was younger and was involved in many of the productions they put on (my first being Tom Sawyer!). Music and theatre have been a passion of mine ever since and I am so excited to be sharing that love with my students.

Ellie Jany

Ellie is so excited to be back at CYT as a teacher! She performed in many mainstage CYT shows growing up and found her passion for the arts through this organization. Throughout her high school years, she danced with Company 360 Dance Theatre, a professional dance company in the area. Working up the ranks as a youth, training, and pre professional, she is now a professional member with the company. She hopes to help her students find their light within their art form so they might shine for the Lord, on stage, and in their everyday lives.
